| The project started
with the idea of having an inside garden. I found this great basket
with a hollow center at a near by craft store. I filled the center
with Styrofoam and than covered it with moss. Each rose consists of
25 petals using the Victorian style of flower making. The ribbons
that divide the rose garden are made from all five rose colors using
the square stitch. I than used a different color of moss on the
outer edge of the basket and finished it off by placing a wire
ribbon bow in each corner. It makes a great center piece for my
dining room table. |

Pictures rarely do
justice to the live image. The silverlined cobalt beads that I used
to make this French beaded floral centerpiece seem to have an inner
glow that look like a deep rich velvet.
I only used 2 colors
of beads to make this piece. Silver silverlined beads were the 2nd
color which resemble ice. Hence the name "Velvet in the Snow".
I combed through every floral beading book on the market
along with Burpee seed catalogs for inspiration! Then I put my own
twist on it and came up with this whimsical creation.
This
has turned into a never ending project. Thank goodness there was a
deadline to this contest, or I would keep adding to it. Never enough
beads in a piece for me! |

This beaded floral
arrangement has been a labor of love. It is showcased in my living
room on a pedestal, in a special glass vase with a wrought iron
screen used as a back drop. The flowers were created using
vintage beaded flower books from Virginia Nathanson with the French
beaded flower technique. The flowers used include, Lilacs, Roses,
Poppies, Freesia, Lilies, Baby's Breath, Spider Mums, Carnations.
Pussy Willow, Delphinium, Dahlia, Canterbury Bells and
Chrysanthemums. The arrangement is breathtaking and one of the most
cherished decorations in my home. |
