How Do I Love Thee?
My husband and I were married a year ago on May 10th. As an anniversary present, I decided to bead this wall hanging. I found a cross stitch pattern in the book "Celtic Art in Cross Stitch" by Barbara Hammet (#43 on page 103) and decided to modify the pattern. The original pattern calls for four colors, but to show God's magnificent love, I decided to modify the pattern and expanded it to include six. I began beading a little over a month ago, and this is only the second piece I have ever made. In my excitement, I gave my husband his present this evening and he loves it!

The name for this piece comes from the home that Frank Lloyd Wright built for the love of his life, which he named Taliesin. I made this jewelry box for my new husband, the love of my life, (we just eloped in Las Vegas on January 2, 2003)as a wedding present. It was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and the Arts and Crafts style stained glass windows. The style is beautiful, yet masculine, and the piece is useful. Perfect for any man. My husband adores it.

My father is an artist and loves to wear fancy bow ties for dress occasions. I had made a bracelet for him in our family tartan, and he asked for a tie to match. The beading was done in sections, which were then appliqued onto a handmade red silk tie. He now wears it with his Stewart kilt for opening nights at the Opera.

After 6 years stationed in Okinawa, Japan my husband came to California for me. He loves the culture he left behind so much that I am constantly buying bonsai trees for him to have. None are around today, be it by means of cat or child, they never seem to last more than a few months. When I came upon the French Beaded Flowers I fell in love, and an idea started to form. I could bead a bonsai out of wire and sead beads and it would last through our marriage. I was able to complete this bonsai tree for Christmas and to my delight, my husband loves it! I am happy to give my husband something to remind him of his time in Japan. Pretty much the entire Bonsai is beaded from the leaves down the trunk and exposed roots....no spot left bare.

This tapestry was inspired by a John Waterhouse painting called "The Siren".It depicts a sunken ship in the background with the surviving sailor lured to the rocks by a fish-tailed temptress. A perfect fantasy for any man....to be rescued by a mermaid. I used Sig's pattern to create this piece which transforms the beads into "His Fantasy"
