| I saw a necklace hanging in an antique shop, nestled in a desplay from a woman who brings items from the Middle East to sell. I loved it imediately!! I couldn't buy it, so I got a pencil and a piece of paper, and the shopkeeper was nice enouph to let me examine it. I studied it, jotted down the stitch, looked at it from all angles. I had to revisit the shop several times to study the necklace, until it was sold. It is made up of a different type of stitching that I have never seen, sort of like a series of picots. I couldn't replicate the exact pattern, but I could the stitch, so here it is! I added some Mousetail cord, metal beads, and Chinese Button knots, just to add some flair. |

SNAKELACE was created as an Ndebele stitched tube of size 11 seed beads in
autumn colors with a caged glass bead for weight. S shape held by
copper electical wire inserted in the tube, with the ball section entwined in the S shape. The design, eliminating a purchased closure was inspired by wire closures in "Findings & Finishes" by Sharon Bateman.
