I was inspired by the beaded buttons in Jane Conlon's Fine Embellishment Techniques book to make these reversible beaded beads. Each of the two types of the beaded beads incorporated into the necklace and bracelet are constructed by anchoring a few beads to the holes of a plain white button and then beading to encase the button. They are easy and fun to make, highly addictive and can be combined to create a variety of jewelry pieces.

This necklace, Aurora's Vision, Goddess of the Dawn, reminds me of the northern lights the way the Labradorite subtly catches the light and warms it. It features three beaded beads using 17mm crystal balls layered with netting in 3mm gray opal Swarovski bicones and 15/0 pale gray opalescent seed beads. I used two more of the 17mm crystal balls unveiled for added interest and contrast. Each of the crystals are swagged with silver chain and accented with Labradorite drops. Additional Labradorite faceted rondelle gemstones were used with silver Bali spacers, accent beads and an S hook for the closure. This necklace is a classic beauty with lots of sophistication.

Stitch

Netting for the beaded beads and stringing.

Beads Used

17mm Crystal Balls, 3mm Bicones, 15/0 Seed Beads, Labradorite Briolettes and Rondelles, Bali Accent and Spacer Beads.
